Getting Started
How do I create a wishlist?
Tap the + button on the My Lists tab. Give your wishlist a name and tap Create. You can add items right away.
Can I have multiple wishlists?
Yes! Create as many as you like — one for Christmas, one for your birthday, or any other occasion.
Wishlist Items
What details can I add to an item?
Each item has a name, photo, shop/store, website link, and description. Only the name is required.
Can I add a photo from my camera roll?
Yes — tap 'Add Photo' when creating or editing an item to pick from your photo library.
Can the app fill in an item's details from a link?
Yes. Paste the product's web link into the Website Link field, then tap 'Autofill from Link'. This works when you add or edit your own items, and also when a gift giver adds something they already bought that wasn't on the wishlist. The app reads the page and fills in the name, shop/store, price, description, and photo where it can find them. It only fills fields that are empty, so anything you've already typed is kept. Please check the results before saving.
Sharing
How do I share my wishlist?
Open your wishlist, tap ···, then 'Share Wishlist'. You'll get a link to send to family and friends via Messages, Mail, etc.
Can gift givers suggest items for my wishlist?
Yes. Anyone you have shared a wishlist with can suggest an item for it. It's an easy way for family and friends to add gift ideas to a shared wishlist, and you stay in control of your list.
Who can edit an item I added because I'd already bought it?
Only you — the gift giver who added it. Open the item and tap Edit to change its name, shop, price, link, description, or photo, and you can change its reveal date from the same screen. Nobody else can edit it, not even the wishlist creator or another gift giver.
What can gift givers do?
Gift givers can view all items, suggest items, mark items as purchased, and reverse a purchase. When marking an item purchased, they also choose that item's reveal date. Each copy belongs to whichever gift giver acts on it first — only that person can reverse its purchase or change its reveal date, so nobody can undo or take over another gift giver's purchase. Everyone can still see what is marked purchased.
I bought something that isn't on the wishlist — can I still add it?
Yes. As a gift giver, tap the cart button to add something you already bought that wasn't on the list, and choose its reveal date just like any other purchase. It won't appear in the wishlist creator's view at all until that date passes (or immediately with Early Access) — it only ever shows up for them through Reveal Purchases, so adding it never spoils the surprise.
Reveal & Subscription
What is the Reveal feature?
Tap 'Reveal Purchases' at any time to open the reveal screen. Each item unlocks individually once its own reveal date passes (or immediately with Early Access) — items that aren't unlocked yet are shown locked, without revealing whether they were purchased. Once unlocked, you'll also see which gift giver purchased (or reversed) it.
Who sets the reveal date?
Only a gift giver can set an item's reveal date — not you as the wishlist creator. It's set when they mark that item purchased, and can be edited later from the same item, but only by that same gift giver. This prevents peeking before your special day.
Can I change the device time to reveal early?
No. The reveal date is verified against a server clock via iCloud. Changing your device's date or time has no effect.
What does the Early Access subscription include?
With a yearly subscription you can reveal purchases at any time, without waiting for each item's reveal date. The server-side verification still applies — it just removes the date restriction.
What is Family Linking?
From ··· → Family, a parent can generate an invite code for their child to enter, linking the two accounts. The parent can then pause or restore the child's Early Access subscription at any time, and only the parent can unlink the accounts — regardless of the child's age.
Archive & Delete
What is the difference between archiving and deleting?
Archiving moves a wishlist out of your active lists without deleting it — useful after a holiday passes. Deleting permanently removes it and all its items and cannot be undone.
How do I restore an archived wishlist?
Go to ··· → Archived Lists, then swipe left on any list and tap Restore.
Extra Accounts
What are Extra Accounts?
Add an Extra Account for a child, pet, parent, or someone without an Apple device who can't use the app themselves. You can create wishlists for them and act as a gift giver too.
Ready to plan the perfect gifts?
Family Wishlist is free on iPhone and iPad. Early Access is an optional yearly subscription.
